Ashamed? Oh Come To The Altar.

Our youth worship leaders are currently practicing a new song that you may be very familiar with. It’s titled “Oh Come To The Altar”. However, we’ve tweaked the song just a bit replacing “altar” with ”cross”. And while I could do a whole blog series on why we suggested this edit to the youth, we will save that for another day.

Shame is an area of our lives that we’re all very familiar with. The only problem is were ashamed of our shame so we take fig leaves, sew them around ourselves to hide our shame, and try and operate in this life out of an appearance that hides the reality of who we really are. Some might call it a facade.

A life of shame can flesh Itself out in our lives for a variety of reasons. Most commonly shame is the results of guilt due to a lack or failure on the part of the performer!

I hope you caught that! “THE PERFORMER” When you focus on your performance in the kingdom of God the inevitable result will always be failure, guilt, shame, and sewn fig leaves around our lives resulting in an actor.

The beautiful thing about the cross guys is it removes all shame & all guilt. You can take those fig leaves, toss them aside, and run into your Fathers arms buck naked! You know why? Because His love is perfect! He doesn’t focus on your performance. His focus is you! He loves you with a perfect love, and He will never leave you, and He will never forsake you!
